Cala San Vincente Holidays

Travel Agent's View

Travel Agents View Cala San Vicente is one of Majorca's smallest resorts and certainly the most scenic. The resort is still a working fishing village and many fishermen can be seen tending to their nets on the beach on a daily basis.

The main beach can be quite busy but the smaller ones tend to be less crowded. There is a handful of restaurants and shops with more choice available in the neighbouring resorts.

This quiet resort is only 35 miles from the airport and would be best suited for families with children and older couples seeking a peaceful holiday.

Insider's View

Majorca Insider I have always had a love of Cala Sant Vicenc, probably because it was one of the first places I visited on Majorca. It's a quiet and beautiful, somewhat solitary spot in the north of the island close to Pollença and Puerto Pollença and tucked away on the edge of the Tramuntana mountain range.

The Cavall Bernat limestone ridge runs above the four pretty and secluded coves and offers some fantastic walks. As regards swimming, Cala Clara and Cala Barques are shingly once you hit the water, but Cala Molins, the larger beach has a sandy bed beneath the waves. At a little distance is Cala Carbó which is less busy and a great place to wile away a few hours with a book. Popular pursuits here are snorkelling and scuba diving because of the clear pristine waters.

There's a very popular local hangout called Cal Patró which is right on the waterfront and serves up delicious grilled fish and salad dishes. At night Café Art 66 offers a great chill out atmosphere with DJ sounds and creative cocktails.

As a walker I would recommend a stroll to the nearby Coves de L'Alzineret, a pre-talayotic funeral site, and a brisk walk along the cliffs to Puerto de Pollensa, only about 40 minutes on foot. For the energetic there's a beautiful three hour walk to Puig de l'Aguila but be sure to bring lots of sun cream and water along.

There are some great shops in both the port and in Pollensa town as well as restaurants and bars and a large market on a Sunday in Plaça Mayor. Enseñat is a store that sells tempting Spanish groceries that make perfect gifts, such as locally produced olive oils and flavoured sea salts.

If you do make it to Pollensa town, it's worth making the effort to climb the 365 steps of Calvari from the main square. Apart from being good exercise, the views from the little 18th century chapel at the summit, are wonderful and there's a little café where you can order a restorative drink!
