Cala Vinas is a quiet resort with a good beach, a few nice restaurants and some shops offering basic amenities but not much else other than that.

Just a 10 minute walk will take you to the busy resort of Magaluf which has plenty of everything including nightlife and activities for all ages.

Cala Vinas is perfect for those looking for a quiet holiday with the option of taking advantage of the many facilities on offer in nearby neighbouring resorts.

Tucked away on the South west coast, close to Magaluf, is the understated resort of Cala Vinas, a jewel of a cove with a sheltered beach of fine white sand. Despite being so close to its racy and noisy neighbour, it's a world apart from Magaluf and is a great place to unwind and relax in peaceful surroundings.

The most frenetic activity around here is probably a spot of gentle snorkelling or possibly scuba diving, and the water is safe and shallow. There are some pleasant gentle strolls to be had along this stretch of coast and if you're after a bit of action, then Magaluf is a quick bus ride away and offers an excellent choice of restaurants, gift shops and nightlife although best to avoid the north end of Carrer de Punta Balena, where all the heavy drinking and night-time fun and frolics take place.

There are two fun water parks nearby. Aqualand and Western Water Park which I've visited many times with my son and his chums, and there's also the Gran Casino Mallorca if you fancy listening to one of the regular crooners and trying your hand on the tables.

Other local attractions are Fantasia Golf which is set in an imaginative landscape of small caves and water features and in the garden there are birds of prey which children can handle under guidance-always a thrill!

One of the visits I've enjoyed the most around here is the Pirates Adventure which offers a magical and entertaining show with acrobats, magicians and dancers, all trained to an astonishingly professional level. They offer a pretty mundane, Brit inspired menu but it's worth stomaching for the excellent show and thankfully you can bring your own wine. Insider Sig
