The small resort of Camp de Mar offers a sheltered beach which is generally quiet throughout the year and offers some great views over the bay.

The lovely scenery makes it a great place for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling with opportunities for golfing and tennis also available.

There are some shops, bars and restaurants available but if it is a bustling nightlife you are looking for then a trip to Santa Ponsa or Magaluf, which are both within 10kms would be advisable.

Camp de Mar is ideal for a relaxing holiday with plenty of attractions in the surrounding area.

This is a small and exclusive beach resort at the extreme southwest of the island where many a celebrity keeps a private villa. In the past Claudia Schiffer had a pile here and more recently Tom Cruise and Michael Schumacher have bought pads in the hills.

This is an ideal spot for a truly peaceful and laid back holiday away from the crowds and bustle and is not for those in search of a hectic night life! Most of the entertainment is hotel based unless you venture off by car to nearby Puerto de Andratx for some midnight cocktails or to dance the night away in nearby Santa Ponsa and Pueguera. I'd also recommend the famous Gran Casino in Camp de Sol for a night out of music and also Pirates Adventure, the music and acrobatic show.

Those who enjoy tennis and golf often make a beeline for Camp de Mar since it offers both in abundance. In Paguera there is the well known Tennis Academy Mallorca and Tennis Centre Peguera where players of the calibre of Boris Becker and Tommy Haas have trained. There are also six championship standard golf courses within close range, the nearest being Golf de Andratx.

For shopping it's worth popping into Puerto de Andratx for the artisan craft and fruit market on a Wednesday. Be warned that the few shops that are in Camp de Mar, charge a fair whack more than in other nearby resorts, dint of their being the only ones in a fairly solitary spot! A restaurant worth sampling is Alcatraz, meaning 'gannet' in English, which is situated on a little island in the bay and reached by a wooden walkway.

A delightful boat trip can be made over to the little island of Dragonera which is only a short distance from Camp de Mar. It has a nature reserve and some interesting historical sites. Insider Sig
