Magalluf is known as the party capital of Majorca so if you are looking for a peaceful holiday then this is not the place for you. There are literally hundreds of bars, restaurants and nightclubs which attract a great number of people including many Stag and Hen parties.

Some of the restaurants do offer tradtional Spanish cuisine but most of them are geared towards the British holiday maker as are the many bars.

There are no shortage of activities available in Majorca such as many watersports, boat trips, mini golf, karting, water parks and of course the popular Pirates dinner show.

If you fancy a change from lying on the beach or wandering around the many shops you could hop on the bus and visit Palma which has many historical buildings and sights to see, sometimes a welcome change from the busy resort of Magaluf. As Palma airport is only about 15 miles away, you don't have to wait long to get the party started.

What can I say about Magaluf? Having constantly been given a bad rap for being the nucleus for stag and hen nights and being labelled Blackpool-on-Sea, I think it's time to set the record straight. As one of the first tourist resorts on the island attracting young people on a budget, Magaluf has been known to attract the wrong crowd but about 15 years ago the council cleaned the place up, knocked down some hotel monstrosities and set about making the town more accommodating for families.

Nowadays, Magaluf is a safe and friendly resort and ideal for bucket and sand family fun, for young holidaymakers and for those wanting home comforts on their doorstep. The beaches between Magaluf and its neighbour, Palmanova, are clean and well kept, the sand creamy and fine and the waters beautifully clear and safe for swimming.

The council has planted attractive pines and palms along the main thoroughfares and the seafront promenade and now even offers tai chi classes and guided walks along the beaches.

There are loads of attractions nearby to suit all budgets and tastes from the excellent Pirates Adventure Show -which I have to say is funny, slick and edge of seat spectacular to watch. There are two enormous water parks, Aqualand and the wild Western themed Western Water Park and if upside down houses are your thing, pop by the relatively new House of Katmandu. This world of virtual reality exhibition is situated on Avenida Pedro Vaqer Ramis and is quite a feat of the imagination.
