Travel Agents View Paguera lies on the south west coast of Majorca, just 12 miles from Palma and about half an hours drive from the airport and is very popular with both British and German tourists.

There are three sandy beaches in the resort which are linked by a promenade, which is lined with many bars and restaurants. There are many more bars, nice restaurants and good quality shops to be found in the pedestrianised street that lies behind the promenade so you will be sure to find somewhere to your liking.

There are a couple of nightclubs and live music bars in the resort but nothing too rowdy so you will still be able to enjoy peace and quiet if you choose. Visitors can also take part in the many watersports and boat trips that are available.

Majorca Insider For those seeking relaxation, well maintained, sandy beaches backed by shady pines and a friendly family resort, Paguera's the place to go. It's a well established resort beloved by Germans which means it has good amenities and is run efficiently.

If I'm honest there's nothing much remarkable about it aside from the three beaches and it's proximity to the idyllic little wooded bay of Cala Fornells, which also happens to sport a delightful and bijoux white sandy beach.

The coastline here in the south west is craggy and jagged with pine clad cliffs and dramatic seascapes. There are some heavenly little islands off shore such as Sa Dragonera, a nature reserve which is popular with twitchers. Water sports are here aplenty and also fun boat rides and horse trekking nearby in Calvia.

Paguera has a busy, modern marina which attracts the yachtie set and a part-pedestrianised main street called Avinguda Paguera which is awash with pleasant restaurants and cafés, many offering German fare so if you like bratwurst, the German sausage, you'll be quids in.

Two of my favoured culinary gems are near Cala Fornells. One is Gran Tortuga which has dreamy views over the beach and bay and serves delicious roasts and fish dishes. It also has a swimming pool which I have taken advantage of when stopping by for lunch. In the Cala itself is C'an Luis Mi Bodega which is a delightful restaurant with a cool and shady terrace and offers the ravenous guest hearty fare such as suckling pig and baked cod.

If you've got a car and haven't lost your temper in Paguera's confusing one way system, head off along the coast to Andratx where you can enjoy a glass of chilled rosé by the marina or potter around the unusual and classy little shops and boutiques. Believe it or not, Puerto de Andratx even has a tiny bookshop called Bedlington Books, a place I head to before browsing the enticing and chic women's clothing stores nearby. Insider Sig
