S'Illot Holidays

Travel Agent's View

Travel Agents View a good variety of restaurants ... many bars and even one nightclub but if you want more variety you can venture into one of the nearby resorts

The resort of S'Illot is situated between Cala Millor and Porto Cristo on the eastern coast of Majorca and has grown from a small fishing village to a small but popular resort.

The resort is joined to the modern Sa Coma by a footbridge over a fresh water lagoon so if you fancy a change of scenery you can take a trip into Sa Coma.

There are a good variety of restaurants offering different types of cuisine, many bars and even one nightclub but if you want more variety you can venture into one of the nearby resorts.

Activities such as watersport, tennis and horseriding are available and day trips to Palma, Manacor and the Caves of Drach are also popular. There is certainly something for everyone here in S'Illot.

Insider's View

 by Anna Nicholas

Majorca Insider ...it has a long and traffic free boulevard beside the sea and is wonderfully laid back and relaxing

S'Illot lies just to the south of Sa Coma and shares many of its amenities as well as having its own attractive, small beach, Playa S'Illot backed by tall palm trees and reeds. I think this is an ideal family resort especially because, like Sa Coma, it has a long and traffic free boulevard beside the sea and is wonderfully laid back and relaxing. There are a lot of fun things to do here such as taking a trip in a submarine vision boat that tours the coast and from which you can see all sorts of fish and sea creatures. It's good value because children under twelve go free. Apart from water sports, a trip to Punta de n'Amer is worth the effort. It's a nature reserve and ideal for hiking or just a pleasant stroll to see the castle. Last time I visited I had a go at horseback riding which was fantastic and a great way to see the reserve. Some companies also arrange for horse riding along the beach at Sa Coma.

Children seem to like the Auto-Safari park at nearby Sa Coma and if you have a hire car, it's worth popping along to the stunning caves of Arta or even to try your hand at golf at the Son Servera course. As regards S'Illot itself, there's a handy mini train and a good bus service for ferrying you around the resort and a wonderfully clear walking path that runs all through the resort and as far as Punta de n'Amer. Local cruises can be taken along the coast to Cala Ratjada or Porto Cristo-always a fun excursion. A good local restaurant to try for the local delicacy, frito mallorquin, a kind of lamb, offal and vegetable stir fry is Es Cuerot, which also has a good tapas bar. Shopping isn't that special in the resort so I'd head for busy Cala Millor for purchases or further afield to Manacor or Arta. For nightlife S'Illot will disappoint so head to Cala Millor for lively cocktail and music bars that stay open until the small hours.
