Travel Agents View Sa Coma is a purpose built resort on the east coast of Majorca, some 80km from the airport. It is a popular resort, especially among the British with many ex-pats owning bars and restaurants here.

There are many bars and restaurants to be found along the seafront promenade that runs all the way from Sa Coma to S'Illot and nightlife is a little livelier in S'Illot than it is in Sa Coma.

A popular attraction is the medieval watchtower that sits on the headland at Punta de n'Amer, it is a 45 minute walk but you will be rewarded with some great views and no doubt enjoy a refreshment at the cafe when you reach the top.

The resort is ideal for families with many activities available such as watersports, tennis, golf, mini golf, horse riding, bowling and karting, it is easy to see why.

Insider's View

Majorca Insider This small peaceful resort on the east of the island is a perfect family holiday destination with, apart from spade and bucket activities, lots of attractions for children. It's linked to the adjacent resort of S'Illot by a long pedestrian seaside boulevard which also stretches north to Cala Millor.

The focus of Sa Coma is its long sandy beach which offers excellent bathing. From here you can take boat excursions along the coast to Cala Rajada in the north and Porto Cristo in the south. There are all sorts of water sports available as well as hiking along the coast and horseback riding.

A lovely place to visit, and one of my favourite attractions is the nature reserve at Punta de n'Amer and the drive-through Auto Safari-Park is always good value for adults and children. There are two golf courses in the vicinity, and the caves of Arta and Drach are only a short distance away.

Sa Coma has some souvenir shops as well as a good choice of bars and restaurants such as JJ's Restaurant which is a popular haunt offering hearty British food. A real culinary treat is to visit Es Moli de'n Bou which is a Michelin-starred restaurant, one of the most famous on the island, and which serves a heavenly Mediterranean menu in a contemporary setting.

For those who like markets, I can recommend the Friday market at Son Servera which is only a short bus ride away. Insider Sig
